What Conditions Should I Report To My Massage Therapist?
If you have/had any of the following conditions, it is imperative to inform your massage therapist before the start of your session:
COVID-19, Nausea/Dizziness, Recent Injuries/Fractures, Blood Disorders, Bruises/Wounds/Rashes/Severe Sunburns, Undiagnosed Migraines/Pain/Tumor, Active Cancer, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Deep Vein Thrombosis, Herpes, Alcohol or Recreational Drug Use, Recent Cough/Fever/Loss of Taste or Smell, Back/Spinal Problems, High Blood Pressure/Circulatory/Respiratory Problems, Allergies/Skin Conditions, Recent Operations/Injuries/Wounds, Digestion Issues, Diabetes, Heart Conditions, Edema, Thyroid Dysfunction, Fibromyalgia, Osteoporosis, Parkinson's Disease, Contiguous Diseases (HIV/AIDS), Cancer, Currently Pregnant.
This information is fundamental so that your therapist can tailor your sessions according to your specific needs. Some conditions are completely contraindicated and could make your condition worse.
What Should I Do If I Have These Conditions?
If you suffer from any of these conditions listed above (or any conditions not listed), you MUST inform your massage therapist first. They will determine what modalities are indicated or contraindicated. In some cases, your massage therapist will refer you to your doctor before booking your session.
REMEMBER: Your health MUST be stable first and you MUST inform your massage therapist of ALL current symptoms and past/current medical history. This will ensure that your massage is fully personalized according to your specific needs and it will determine if this treatment is suitable for you. Our main focus is to aid in your healing journey, not make it worse.
Depending on your medical conditions, your session will be tailored around them. For example: areas with burns, wounds, bruises, pins, etc. will simply be avoided.
PLEASE NOTE: Before the start of your massage, inform your therapist of who was responsible for diagnosing any of your conditions (Doctor, Sports/Physical Therapist, Acupuncturist, Yourself, etc.)
ALLERGIES: YOU MUST inform your therapist of ALL skin allergies/sensitivities (creams, oils, cleansers, disinfectants, materials, gloves, etc.). In these cases, your massage therapist will use different products according to your needs or you can provide your own products.
♦♦ DO NOT consume any alcohol or drugs prior to your session. I will not perform bodywork if you are under the influence of any substance ♦♦
